THE casualty has been confirmed as an 11 year-old by police, who are as yet unable to reopen the stretch of the A361.


A CASUALTY "in a serious condition" is currently being airlifted to Frenchay Hospital after an HGV went into the rear of a Citroen Picasso.

A spokesman for Devon & Cornwall Police has confirmed: "The A361 is closed eastbound at Bolham," he said, "And will remain closed for some time."


THREE ambulances are on the scene, a spokeswoman for South Western Ambulance Service Trust has told the Mid Devon Star.

"We don't have much information as yet.

"We have three ambulances there. We understand that the incident involved an HGV."


THE location of the accident has been clarified as having been between the A396 Heathcoat Way (Tiverton) and M5 J27 (Tiverton, Sampford Peverell.

Motorists are advised to seek an alternative route.



AN air ambulance has responded to a serious collision on the A361 at Tiverton tonight (August 19).

A Devon and Cornwall police spokesman said: "We received the call at 5.51pm.

"We have closed the westbound carriageway to allow air ambulance to land.

"We have only just arrived at the scene -- it is ongoing as we speak."
