A TIVERTON children’s author is celebrating after signing two 2-book deals with major publishers.

Amy Sparkes has been offered a two-book deal with Random House and another two-book deal with Egmont for her picture books.

“I’m delighted to be working with Random House and Egmont,” said Amy. “The two Random House books are Once Upon A Wish, illustrated by Sara Ogilvie, to be published in Spring 2015 and My Little Star, illustrated by Jane Massey, out in Autumn 2015. Egmont is publishing The Mouse Who Sailed The Seas, illustrated by Nick East, which will also be published in spring next year and a second title will be released in spring 2016.”

Amy is becoming a familiar face in the world of children’s books and her last book, Do Not Enter the Monster Zoo, also illustrated by Sara Ogilvie, attracted much attention and has been shortlisted for many awards, including the Roald Dahl Funny Prize 2013 and the inaugural Booktrust Best Books Awards 2014.

Amy’s books also support charities which are concerned with saving the lives of babies and these new books are no exception. “Having had difficult pregnancies myself, I’m keen to support charities to help make a difference to little ones. My Little Star and the two Egmont books will be donating a percentage of royalties to ICP Support, a charity concerned with a liver condition in pregnancy, associated with stillbirth and premature labour and Once Upon A Wish is donating to Bliss.

Despite expecting her fifth baby, Amy is hoping to run special events and launches for the new releases and also keep writing new books. “It’s going to be busy, but it’s great fun,” Amy says. “It’s wonderful to dream up a story and see it being enjoyed by children, as well raising money for charity.”
