BRADNINCH Folk Club is welcoming The Driftwood Manor, a highly regarded band from Ireland, later this month.

The band made a preliminary expedition into the English music scene last November, when they supported Scottish folk legend Dick Gaughan at The Bath Folk Club.

The Driftwood Manor from Athlone mix traditional Irish music and folk with a range of other influences, from Eastern music to Americana and rock.

Their second album, The Same Figure (Leaving) on Galway label Rusted Rail in 2011 saw the band receive excellent reviews and a place in The Irish Times’ breakthrough acts of that year.

The Driftwood Manor are celebrating the release on vinyl of their sixth album, Of The Storm.

The band has been playing and recording in various forms since 2009 and their music is based around the song writing of Eddie Keenan.

The one other constant in the band is Neil Fitzgibbon, an award-winning Irish fiddler.

The evening will feature support from Emily Howard.

She is an award-winning singer-songwriter from the South-West and despite her youth has performed all over Europe.

She has appeared at the WOMAD festival, Port Eliot Festival, Beautiful Days Festival and more.

Some of the club’s excellent resident performers will also be on stage.

The performance on Tuesday, May 20, will start at 8pm and entry is £4 on the door.
