MORE than 200 parents and grandparents flocked to Moorhayes Community Centre on Saturday to attend the ‘Baby on a Budget’ nearly new sale.

The tabletop sales provide somewhere where parents of babies and toddlers can buy and sell pre-loved items, and sellers filled the hall with clothes, books, toys and equipment.

The event was set up by Cara Snow, mum of two, who wants to support local mums and help them earn extra money.

She said: “I know what it’s like buying for two young children.

It can be so expensive buying brand new.

“My nearly new sales are a way for parents to buy items for a fraction of the retail price, but still in excellent condition.”

People travelled from across Somerset and Mid Devon to support the event.

Cara said: “I spoke to parents and grandparents from as far as Taunton, Wellington, Crediton and Exeter, so I’m glad word got out about my sale.”

To support local groups and activities, Cara donated 25% of the takings from entry and baby equipment to Willand Tiny Tots.

The next sale is booked for Saturday, June 28, again at Moorhayes Community Centre.
