TIVERTON children's author Amy Sparkes is enjoying further literary success after being shortlisted for two more book prizes.

Amy's latest book, Do Not Enter the Monster Zoo published by Random House, had already been shortlisted for the coveted Roald Dahl Funny Prize in December but has now also been shortlisted for the brand new Booktrust Best Book Awards and the Rotherham Children's Book Awards.

The Booktrust Best Book Awards with Amazon Kindle seek to unearth the very best children's books the UK has to offer and to honour authors and illustrators who continue the proud heritage of storytelling.

The awards are aimed at children aged from pre-school to 14.

Schools, libraries, children's centres and other settings will be involved in the process, reading the books, taking part in activities and voting for their favourites.

The winners will be announced at a special awards ceremony during Children's Book Week, which runs from June 30 - July 4.

The Rotherham Children's Book Awards are in their fourteenth year - and the shortlist is chosen by a group of students and people working in schools and libraries from thousands of books published in 2013.

The winner will be announced at an award ceremony in June.

“I'm delighted the monsters are doing so well,” says Amy. “To be shortlisted for these awards is wonderful.”

Amy also teaches 'Writing Children's Books' courses at PETROC, and is running workshops in May and June to help others on their writing journey.
