MID Devon District Council has announced plans to provide a temporary car and coach park at Tiverton Parkway Railway Station, after the recent severe weather has caused problems with the main line railway network.
The Council has been contacted by First Great Western who wish to provide space for 12 coaches and 20 car parking spaces, to be built on land to the south of the existing overflow car park.
The car parking spaces will be used by staff members to free up space in the existing car parks.
Richard Chesterton, Cabinet Member for Planning and Economic Regeneration said: “We recognise the difficulties that the current extreme weather has been causing and the impact that this is having on the whole region. Through this measure we are seeking to respond actively to help efforts to ease the situation.”
