TIVERTON Rotary Club’s pop-up Santa’s Grotto got off to a flying start with 80 children visiting it during the Christmas lights switch-on.

The grotto, in Bampton Street, will open every Saturday from 10am-4pm in the run-up to the big day and also on Christmas Eve, until 3pm.

An additional evening opening will take place during the late night trading event on Friday, December 6 – opening at 3pm and closing at about 8pm.

The club is also offering the chance for two lucky youngsters to receive a bigger and better gift in a rafflestyle competition.

Children are invited to write a letter to St Nicholas and drop it into his postbox during their visit. All the entries will be put into a draw on Christmas Eve and the writers of letters pulled out at random will each have a present delivered to them that day. One girl and one boy will be the winners.
