Devon Railway Centre will be hosting its annual steam gala on the August 17 and 18.
There will be three steam locomotives in action on both days providing unlimited train rides. The resident 100 year old steam locomotive will be joined by two others which are coming down from the Midlands especially for the weekend. These visiting locomotives are mere youngsters at 90 years of age! Phone the centre for details of steaming dates.
The usual range of activities to entertain the whole family will be available too. Begin your experience with clipping your own tickets and become the guard to set the train off with a wave of the flag. Head indoors to explore a wealth of model railways. Press the buttons to make things happen and watch over 40 different trains in action!
The interactive Edwardian model village is brought to life with the touch of a button. Control the action, hear the sounds and explore the movement of a town in miniature. All the family can join in with the I Spy Challenge to find the finer details cleverly incorporated into the scenes.
Enjoy a trip to Magic Wood aboard the miniature train and ride as many times as you like. You will notice something different on every journey!
Children will love the indoor play coaches where they can while away time in playing with the wooden railways, digging for treasure in the sand pit and having fun in the ball pool.
Everyone can enjoy a range of snacks and ice creams in Buffers, the station tea rooms and relax alongside the outdoor play area with a cuppa, or play a game of crazy golf together.
The staff at Devon Railway Centre will be delighted to see you where a warm welcome is guaranteed.
