Firefighters washing cars in Crediton
FIREFIGHTERS from Crediton helped the BBC Good Morning Devon team wash listeners’ cars for the Devon Community Foundation.
The event was to mark the radio station's 30th birthday this year, with each programme rising to the challenge of raising £19.83 (the year in which the station went on air) and doubling it for every month for the rest of the year.
Michael Chequer from BBC Radio Devon, who helped firefighters washing cars in Crediton, said: “It’s been fantastic, I wasn’t sure how many people were going to turn up then bang on 10am we had our first customers. We had a couple of buckets ready, than thankfully the fire service turned up and they have been superb. I don’t think we would be coping if they had not been here. So many thanks to Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service.”
One happy customer, Jan Andrews commented: “I’ve been in Crediton shopping and thought I’d get my car washed on the way home. I think it is a really good idea and all for a great cause.”
