Man dies after car leaves road and drops 40 feet down embankment

A MAN has died after a car careered off the road and plunged 40 feet down an embankment into trees.

The incident occured around 4.50pm on Friday on the A396 just south of Cove near to Bickleigh Wood.

Police were called to the scene where one vehicle left the road and dropped some 40 feet down a steep bank into trees. The single male occupant of the vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Investigations are ongoing and next of kin are being advised.
