A TIVERTON woman with just a few hours to live after slipping into a diabetic coma was dramatically rescued last week thanks to a quick- thinking visitor.
Mother of two Zoe Aldridge, who lives in Palmerston Park, was unconscious on her sofa when 75-year-old Gwen Bailey from Bridgwater knocked on her door to make an Ann Summers delivery.
Gwen said: "There was no answer at the door and I thought that was strange because Zoe had said she was definitely in. I tried phoning but nobody answered. I just had a feeling something might be wrong so I let myself in the back door and tiptoed in.
"Zoe was lying on the sofa. She was warm but I just couldn't rouse her."
Gwen immediately dialled 999 and paramedics got there just in time to give Zoe medication and bring her round.
Zoe's boyfriend, Dean Taylor, of Moorhayes Park, was in the house but asleep upstairs after working a night shift while sons Kieren (6) and Sam (9) were at school.
Gwen added: "The paramedics said Zoe's blood sugar level was down to 2% and she was very, very lucky. I'm no hero, I just happened to be in the right place at the right time."
Zoe added: "I'm so grateful to Gwen. If she hadn't come into the house I dread to think what would have happened."
A DISTRESSED dog owner has forked out hundreds of pounds at the vets after her dog was injured in a Cullompton Park.
SCHOOLS across Tiverton are joining together to stage a weeklong festival for families.
