WOMEN cyclists in Devon are being offered the chance to join in the national Five Miles to Fabulous event designed to encourage more women to get on their bikes to benefit both themselves and the environment.
The Devon event is being run by the county council's Cycle Exeter Training Team and will start at noon on Sunday, June 8.
The five-mile route will be from Piazza Terracina at Exeter Quay along the banks of the Exeter Ship Canal to Double Locks and back again.
Women wanting to take part are asked to register in advance by logging on to www.fivemilestofabulous.com.
Every participant will be entered in a free national prize draw to win a bike.
"This event is open to women cyclists from around the county as well as Exeter as it is the only one of its kind in Devon," said the county council's executive member for environment, Cllr Margaret Rogers.
"It should be of interest to those women who want to get fit and look at their best for summer as well as being fun and offering a chance to meet new friends."
