New chief inspector joins the South Devon senior police team

Devon and Cornwall police has announced the appointment of Nikki Leaper as the new chief inspector for South Devon. She joins the team of senior police officers led by Superintendent Jim Nye.

Miss Leaper took up her post earlier this week, taking on the overall responsibility of all operational matters in the South Devon policing area.

Miss Leaper joined Devon and Cornwall Police in 2003 as a patrol constable at Torbay.

She has since been employed in various strategic capacities. More recently she was Deputy Director of Intelligence. She also spent 16 months of her career at the Home Office.

“I am delighted to take up this challenging role and I look forward to working closely with our partner agencies striving to provide a quality and professional service to our communities” said Miss Leaper.

“Our overall aim is to ensure that South Devon remains one of the safest areas in the country and continues to be an envied location to work, live and visit”.

The South Devon policing area covers Torbay, Teignbridge and South Hams.
