IF you’ve got a head for heights then you could be just what the Friends of St Mary’s in Burlescombe are after – the group are holding a sponsored abseil at their church on Saturday, September 22.

The event was planned for June but had to be postponed due to strong winds.

Abseilers who have the courage to abseil from the 80ft tower are asked to register by visiting www.burlescombeparish.co.uk or calling 01823-672865. Places are limited.

The abseil will be supervised by experienced outdoor adventure instructor, Mike Bradford.

The popular teddy parachute that took place last year is also being repeated. Children and grown-ups can see their bears float off the tower between 1pm and 2 pm.

Since the teddies have a habit of landing in tree tops it’s recommended that precious toys are left at home.

Funds raised during the abseil will be used to pay for on-going church maintenance.
