Appeal after Plymouth robbery
8:57am Tuesday 17th July 2012 in Devon
Police are appealing for witnesses following a robbery in Plymouth which left the victim unconscious and requiring hospital treatment.
Officers would like to hear from a woman who came to the assistance of the victim as he lay injured in the street.
Between 11pm and 11.30pm on Saturday, July 14, the 51-year-old victim was walking home via a service lane between Hotham Place and Wilton Street when he was struck from behind.
He was knocked to the ground unconcious and only awoke a few hours later – at around 7am – by the woman police want to speak to.
He suffered a fractured eye socket in the attack.
He then made his way home in a confused state and later realised that he was missing cash, a bank card and a neck chain and bracelet.
He took himself to hospital where he stayed overnight.
Anyone with any information is asked to please call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 quoting police ref. ED/12/3873.
