Mid Devon pupils encouraged to enter science and engineering comp

BUDDING young engineers, scientists, mathematicians, technologists and entrepreneurs in Mid Devon are being encouraged to enter the South-West regional heats of a national competition.

Students are invited to showcase their talents, win prizes, gain recognition from industry leaders and possibly compete nationally by taking part in the National Science and Engineering Competition.

Entrants must be aged 11 to 18 and have been in education as of August 31, 2011.

The competition welcomes projects from all areas of science, technology, engineering and maths.

They can be a piece of original research, an original invention or a design for a new or improved item.

A project might also be a piece of work which explores issues surrounding science.

Ten winners from the regional heats will go through to the national finals next spring.
