AN INSPIRATIONAL Tiverton woman who lost her leg in a horrific motorbike crash that also killed her husband will took on a brave walking charity challenge.

Caroline Rutley-Frayne, 47, lost her leg and her husband in a tragic accident seven years ago.

Since then, her recovery has been long and arduous , but has dedicated her time to her rehabilitation.

As a result of her determination, managed to raise more than £100 for the children cancer charity CLIC Sargent at the 10km Western Canal Walk.

During her rehabilitation, Caroline tried various prosthetic legs but was never completely satisfied with their fitting, she was determined to find a better solution.

In October last year, she decided to travel to Australia to undergo surgery to have an implant in her leg, which forms a direct connection to her prosthetic leg.

As a result of this surgery, Caroline can now walk much further than she could in the last seven years, and decided to put her new leg to the test with a long-distance walk.

Ms Rutley-Frayne said: “The CLIC Sargent walk is the perfect opportunity to achieve my goal of being able to walk a long distance, whilst helping a charity raise some much needed funds.”

Joy Morley, CLIC Sargent fundraising manager, said: “When I heard Caroline’s story I was in shock. Not only is she a brave woman but determined and strong and an inspiration to us all.”
