DEVON sculptor Andrew Sinclair’s fame has spread so far and wide that students from all across the world are coming to the UK to take his courses.

Brian Chan, 38, a self-employed potter from Hong Kong, travelled to this country and signed up to a four-day course at The Sculpture School, run by Andrew and his partner Diane in Bondleigh.

Brian, who spent three weeks in the UK on holiday, came especially to Devon after seeing The Sculpture School on the internet.

“I saw their website and I think Andrew’s work is amazing. He is inspiring,” he said. Brian who mostly makes a range of ceramics back home in Hong Kong said he wanted to take his creations to the ‘next level’.

During the four days at the school in May, he made a female figure out of clay.

He added: “It was worth it. I 'm actually planning to come back later this year to take another workshop at The Sculpture School!”

Other foreign students to come to the school recently include two from Stockholm, Sweden and a man from Cape Town, South Africa. Interest has also been expressed from India.

Andrew said: “Slowly but surely, our name is becoming known throughout the world and we are very excited at the prospect of more international students coming here to Devon.

“As a result of the visit by our Swedish students, Diane and I were invited to Stockholm earlier this year to run a course there, so it’s good to know our work is appreciated across the globe.”
