James Rennie, aged 35 of St Aubyn Avenue, Keyham, Plymouth has been charged with two counts of burglary.

Rennie has been charged following burglaries at St Pancras Avenue on 17th March, and a property on Somerset Place, Stoke in Plymouth on March 21.

Following his appearance in Plymouth Magistrates Court on Wednesday 25th March, Rennie was remanded in custody and will appear at Plymouth Crown Court at a later date.

Detective Inspector for Devonport, Jonathon Bancroft, is asking the public to always keep their homes safe and secure: “After a spell of nice weather and summer on its way, people tend to leave windows open and doors unlocked which are tempting to an opportune criminal.

“I ask that people are vigilant, not just to their own property but also to their neighbours and the areas they live in. If you see people in your area and you are not comfortable with their behaviour, or they are acting suspiciously, then please contact the police straight away.

“I will always prioritise these types of crimes, so it is vital that the public always come forward and report anything suspicious to the police.”
