Police have launched a murder investigation following the discovery of a 36-year-old woman’s body in Dawlish this morning (Thursday 29 January).

Police were called at around 6.40pm on Wednesday, January 28, following reports of a missing person.

An extensive search was undertaken by specialist officers and volunteer search and rescue groups.

A body was later discovered at a property in Iddesleigh Terrace, Dawlish at around 3am today.

A 36-year-old man from Dawlish and known to the victim was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder, and has been taken into police custody in Exeter.

Officers from the Force’s Major Crime Investigation Team are investigating the circumstances of the incident, and scenes of crime officers are currently at the property.
