Police are trying to trace a witness who may be able to assist police after a woman was assaulted in Plymouth.

Two men were following two women from the St Andrews Cross post office, towards the subway to Bretonside bus station between 12.10am and 12.30am on Sunday, October 12 when one of the men made a racist comment about the women.

The men were challenged by the women and the suspect then spat at one of the women, aged 22 from Buckfastleigh, and threatened them with a bottle he had in his possession.

Officers are trying to identify the man pictured as a potential witness. They are keen to speak to him as he may be able to assist with enquiries.

A 19-year-old man from Plymouth was arrested shortly after the incident on suspicion of common assault and racially aggravated public order. He has since been released on police bail until 18 November.

Anyone who recognises the man pictured is asked to call police on 101 quoting CR/113879/14, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
