THERE is £8,600 currently available to spend on outdoor sport in the parish of Rockbeare – and more money could become available in the future.

The funds have been accumulated by East Devon District Council from recent housing developments in the parish of Rockbeare (Section 106 money).

EDDC have a nationally acclaimed policy of involving residents in how this money is spent.

Ideas can include all sorts of outdoor sports from outdoor exercise equipment or cycleway improvements or even works to a cricket or football pitch.

Permanent

Proposals must be for:

• New outdoor sports facilities or to improve existing outdoor sports facilities.

• Permanently sited sports facilities and equipment. For example permanent football goals, courts or training areas, so not for movable or temporary equipment like cricket bats, kayaks or tennis rackets.

• Sports facilities or equipment that is open and accessible to the community. A small fee may be charged but it must be affordable.

This funding cannot be spent on buildings, indoor facilities, professional sports grounds or golf courses.

Your proposal could just be an idea - it does not need to be a worked up project. If you are not sure if your project would be eligible you can find out by contacting East Devon District Council’s Section 106 Officer on (01395) 571549.

Proposals should be submitted to either: Chairman of Rockbeare Parish Council David Mason at Waybrook, Marsh Green, Devon EX5 2EX, Email de.mason@uwclub.net or Chairman of Rockbeare Village Hall Committee, Sara Hardwick 28 Rookswood Lane, Rockbeare, EX5 2LG. Email sarahardwick101@googlemail.com by Friday 24 October 2014.

Please include your name, the name of your group (if you have one), your contact details, information on what your proposal is and an estimate of how much funding you want to apply for if you have one.

Once we have received the proposals we will work with EDDC to make sure they are eligible, affordable and possible. Residents will be given a chance to look at all the ideas that can happen and vote on them. The ones that gain the most votes are where the money will be spent.
