TIVERTON-based property developer Devonshire Homes has reported an exceptional first half of 2014.

The company has sold more than 100 new homes in the first seven months of 2014, which exceeds annual sales figures from all previous years since the business was formed in the 1990s.

With five months of the year remaining, Steve Russell, Managing Director, is buoyant about the record period of growth for the company.

He said: “We have seen a substantial increase in demand for new homes across Devon which has been the key driver for our output.

“Early in the year we sold our last homes at Rumsam Meadows in Barnstaple, all seven of which were purchased off-plan, and have sold 45 homes to date at Gilbert Scott Way in Tiverton.”

The company is now focusing on completing its developments at Ginkgo Court in Tiverton where there are 14 units, and at Meadow View in Bampton with 34 homes.

Gilbert Scott Way moves into the final phases of construction that will see 30 conversion properties and a range of two and three-bed houses released for sale.

"A high proportion of the one, two and three-bed homes we are building are selling off-plan both to first time buyers buoyed by the Help To Buy equity share scheme, and to investors who are capitalising on the rental market.

“But there are also encouraging signs at the top end of the market. We have just one of 12 properties remaining at our Overton Court development near Bristol off an asking price of £1.275m.”
