MID Devon district council is consulting the public on the content of a new supplementary planning document (SPD).
In response to councillors’ concerns at the number of renewable energy planning applications being submitted and lack of consistent advice against which to assess landscape impacts, the Council commissioned consultants to prepare an 'Assessment of Landscape Sensitivity to on-shore wind energy and large scale photovoltaic development in Mid Devon District’ (LSA), October 2013.
Following further consideration the Council has resolved to adopt the LSA as a Supplementary Planning Document.
As the LSA was not written in the form of an SPD it will require a degree of adaptation before it can be put forward for public consultation.
The Council has prepared a report that forms the first stage in this process, presenting the subject, scope and potential content in relation to an assessment of Landscape Sensitivity to on-shore wind energy and large scale photovoltaic development and seeks to gather the views of developers, the local community and other interested parties on what it should contain.
The report is available on the Council’s website at www.middevon.gov.uk/spd.
If you wish to make comments, please do so in writing by 8 September 2014 (midnight).
Your response must include a full postal address and your representation will be treated as a public document.
Comments should be sent by email to planningconsultations@middevon.gov.uk, or posted/delivered to:
