Cyclist suffers 'life threatening injuries' in Torquay crash with lorry

The collision, involving a DAF tipper truck and a bicycle, happened on Teignmouth Road, at the junction with Lymington Road, in Torquay, outside AMS Tyre and Auto Centre.

As a result of the collision the 21-year-old female cyclist suffered life threatening injuries. She remains in Derriford Hospital, Plymouth, in a critical condition.

The 45-year-old male lorry driver from Torquay suffered shock but was not injured.

The road was closed for just over five hours while an investigation of the scene took place.
