EXETER'S Royal Albert Memorial Museum (RAMM) is calling for entries for the 2014 Local Art Show competition.

Run jointly by RAMM and the Express and Echo, all art groups and societies from Exeter and the surrounding area can compete for the chance to exhibit the work of their members in the museum from 7 to 21 August.

All groups wishing to enter must download entry forms from the museum website: www.exeter.gov.uk/RAMM and submit them before Tuesday 10 June.

Rosie Denham, Exeter’s Lead Councillor for Economy and Culture, explains: “This competition allows us to give recognition to the work of local art groups, help broaden appreciation of the wealth of local talent and give one group the opportunity to display their best work in perfect surroundings.

"Exeter City Council is delighted to be working with the Express & Echo to help recognise, reward and foster creativity in the city.”

Shortlisted entrants will be featured in the Express and Echo and readers will vote for their favourite one.

The name of the successful group will be announced on Thursday 24 July. Art works to be included in the show will need to be ready for RAMM staff to collect on Friday 1 August.

Entering groups will need to complete the entry form and submit it along with a CD/DVD containing ten captioned images representing the group/societies work and 200 words stating why they think their group or society should win.

Full details, including terms and conditions and a gallery plan, are available at www.exeter.gov.uk/RAMM.

Hive won last year’s competition and Fairstream Arts won in 2012.
