EXETER Community Initiative’s Transitions are looking for volunteers throughout the county to support their clients and help smooth their transition to wellbeing and independent living.

Clients may be going through a period of change - such as moving home, looking for work or claiming new benefits. They also help people resolve temporary problems to help people maintain their independence and quality of life.

Transitions is a mentoring project working with vulnerable adults who have been through difficult times – homelessness, substance misuse, mental health or the criminal justice system – and support them as they return to living independently.

Volunteers work one-to-one with clients, and help with searching for accommodation, manage resources and participate in their community.

They are looking for people who are patient, understanding and non-judgemental.

No specific qualifications are needed as full training is given - however, it would be an advantage to have experience of going through tough times and/or previous experience of working in or studying homelessness, mental health, learning disability, addictions, social work or advice work.
