PEOPLE who want to vote in this year's elections must make sure that they are on the electoral register by Tuesday 6 May.

This is the last chance for those not yet on the register to be able to vote in the Exeter City Council and European Parliamentary elections taking place on Thursday 22 May.

City Council elections are taking place for seats in 13 of the City’s 18 wards. The wards involved this year are: Alphington, Cowick, Duryard, Exwick, Heavitree, Mincinglake, Newtown, Pennsylvania, Pinhoe, Polsloe, Priory, St. David’s and Whipton Barton. European Parliamentary elections will be held on the same day, in all parts of the city.

Electors are urged to make sure that they have applied to be on the Register of Electors before Tuesday, 6 May, which is the last day for registering. People must be on the Register to be able to vote. Anyone wishing to apply for a postal vote needs to have submitted a completed application form by 5pm on Wednesday, 7 May. Forms are available from Electoral Services or from the City Council’s website.

Polling stations will be open from 7 am until 10 pm on the day. A list of polling stations can be found on the City Council’s website www.exeter.gov.uk. The counting of votes for the City elections will be held on the morning of Friday, 23 May. The European Parliamentary count will take place on Sunday, 25 May, with results being co-ordinated for the South West region by Poole Borough Council.
