YOU don’t have to be a spring chicken to enjoy watching live eggs hatch, as residents at a care home in Honiton are discovering.

Resident’s of The Abbeyfield Society’s Hill House Care Home have been eagerly awaiting the arrival today (Monday April 14) of the live eggs that, if all goes according to plan, they will be watching hatch out over the next few days.

“Enjoying the chicks hatch at Easter has become a much loved fixture in our resident’s calendar”, said Heather Mohammed, Abbeyfield’s Manager for the Honiton area.

“Many of our residents used to keep chickens themselves when they were younger and seeing the eggs crack and the chicks emerge is a magical moment for many of them. For most of us Easter is dominated by chocolate eggs, its fantastic that the people who live with us can enjoy the miracle of the real thing.”
