THE RSPCA is appealing for information on the owners of a dog found burnt to death on a bonfire in Woodbury Woods, Exeter.

Its badly charred remains were found on Thursday, January 16 by a member of the public on a bridleway in the woods, which are next to a country club.

RSPCA inspector Sarah Heatherington said: “I estimate that the fire was fairly recent – the previous evening – and would like to establish who the owners of the dog are and the circumstances that led to it being placed on a bonfire in the woods.

“It appears to be a white poodle type dog and it was one of the most distressing things I’ve seen in a long time.”

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call the RSPCA’s inspector information line on 0300-1238018 and leave a message for Inspector Heatherington.
