The wet weather is set to continue today and into tomorrow with a yellow alert of heavy rain and the possibility of flooding from the Met Office in place.
Forecasters say that periods of heavy rain will affect parts of south west England, clearing quickly on Thursday morning, adding that the public should be aware of the potential for further flooding, especially in the areas which have been affected recently.
The wet weather is due to a depression passing northeastwards across the UK on Wednesday and early on Thursday, its associated bands of rain bringing further wet conditions to many areas.
In particular, 10 to 20 mm of rainfall will fall quite widely in parts of south west England, with perhaps 30 to 40 mm in the wettest spots.
Adding: "Given current sensitive hydrological conditions, there is a risk of further surface water flooding in Wales, and both river and surface water flooding in Cornwall, Devon and Somerset."
