DEVON and Cornwall's Police and Crime Panel has officially confirmed the appointment of of Shaun Sawyer as the force's new permanent chief constable.
The decision was supported unanimously by all members of the panel.
Mr Sawyer, who had temporarily led the force since the departure of previous chief constable Stephen Otter in March 2012, was provisionally selected for the role out of five shortlisted candidates last month.
Panel chairman, Devon county councillor Roger Croad said: "I am confident that with Mr Sawyer's expertise and leadership he will continue to provide an excellent policing service."
