Teignmouth gas main fire

Emergency services raced to the scene of a gas main fire in Teignmouth this morning.

A police spokesman said that at 9.25 am (Friday, November 16) police and firefighters were called out to the blaze on the Broadmeadow Industrial Estate, Bishopsteignton Road, Teignmouth.

A police spokesman said: "It appears that the main has fractured and resulted in the fire. The scene is surrounded by industrial, rather than residential units.

"The road was closed for some time until the authorities are able make the area safe."
