Railway line closed following road crash in Devon

A STRETCH of railway line in West Devon was closed off following a road traffic collision which left four people injured this afternoon (Sunday 28).

Two vehicles were involved in the incident, which happened at 3pm on the A377 at Kings Nympton near Umberleigh.

Fire crews found one vehicle on a steep embankment near the railway line with one person trapped inside, prompting the closure of the line.

One person was cut out of the vehicle and taken to hospital via air ambulance along with another casualty.

Two more people were treated by ambulance crews at the scene.

The railway line was reopened to trains by 6pm.
