Devon farmer 'lost iPhone' up cow's backside
2:14pm Friday 26th October 2012 in Devon
One Devon farmer has topped a league of strange insurance claims, after claiming for losing an iPhone up a cow's backside.
While the claim may have been a load of old bull, it must have created a moral dilemma, to claim and explain why, or save your blushes by just saying you left it in the pub.
The mucky claim secured the top spot in a new list of 10 weird and wonderful claims, compiled by MobileInsurance.co.uk.
According to the company the claim said that the farmer's iPhone had disappeared inside a cow’s rear end after he used the torch function during calving. And while the phone did later "turn up", it was too damaged to use again, although what unpleasant experience the unlucky engineer who had to check it had, is probably best left hidden.
John Lamerton from MobileInsurance.co.uk said he had seen a lot of "weird claims".
He said: "I’m not sure how some of them even came about, particularly in the case of the farmer and the cow.
"Mobile phones are only going up in price now, so it pays to have them insured for as many scenarios as possible.
"Judging by these claims, you really never know what you might need to claim for.
"My advice would be to just use the phone as a phone and not as an ingredient in a cake or a firework for that matter.'
The top strange claims were:
1. Lost inside a cow
2. Baked into a cake
3. Flushed down a lavatory
4. Snatched by a seagull
5. Blasted by fireworks
6. Stolen by monkeys
7. Dropped from a tree
8. Thrown at a boyfriend
9. Worn out by 'intimate' use
10. Dropped overboard
