Cullompton couple to walk Nepal for charity
4:55pm Friday 10th August 2012 in Cullompton
A KIND-HEARTED Cullompton couple are set to trek around Nepal in aid of babies born with a cleft lip or palette later this year.
Jay and Lisa-Marie Bush will leave the UK on October 23 to brave an unguided trek of Nepal’s Annapurna Circuit.
The walk will cover about 360km and will take them to a height of around 5,416m, which they aim to complete in 19 days.
Money raised by their adventure will go to the Cleft Lip and Palate Association.
The couple said: “We first became aware of this charity when a family member and her husband found out they were expecting a baby who was going to be born with a cleft lip and palate. “CLAPA provided a lot of information to help everyone better understand what this would mean for the family, and we started thinking of ways in which we could help. “In time, beautiful baby Max was born, and with support from CLAPA the family hasn’t had to deal with any difficulties which have arisen alone.
“Max is now two years old and just as smiley as when he was born, even though he has had to go through several operations.”
The couple’s trek will be entirely self-funded, so all donations they receive will go directly to CLAPA.
