IMPROVEMENTS to streets in Cullomption have continued as new litter bins are installed in the town centre.

Ten new cast iron litter bins have been installed in the town, replacing very old plastic bins. Another bin will go outside The Walronds when redevelopment is finished there.

The move is another of the physical improvements planned to enhance the town centre funded through the Cullompton Enhancement and Regeneration Group (CRAG). The funding comes from Section 106 money from the Tesco development which included a budget for new litter bins.

It follows Cullompton Town Council repainting the signposts and bollards, improvements to the corner of Station Road/High Street, including the mural by students from Cullompton Community College, and a|number of shop front face-lift schemes.

Neil Vaughan, vice-chairman of CRAG and owner of Mr Ben’s Emporium fancy dress shop and coffee bar, said: “Every small improvement to Cullompton town centre contributes to improving the image of the town.

“There should be less litter as a result of the re-positioned bins and ash trays, and the bins are durable and look fantastic.”
