PEOPLE are being asked to act now to protect nature on farms.
Somerset Wildlife Trust, based in Wellington, is concerned that budget cuts could see the amount of land benefiting from environmental schemes halved, and it fears the Government will do the absolute minimum under European requirements to impose ‘greening’ measures.
The move comes during the Government’s 28- day consultation, until November 28, on how the Common Agricultural Policy should shape the future of farming and the rural economy in England.
The trust wants people to urge their MPs to support farming with nature.
