STUDENTS at a Crediton were treated to a visit by spooky author Marcus Sedgewick this week.

The pupils of Queen Elizabeth's School were given a presentation by the gothic novelist, who also took part in a Q&A.

Mr Sedgwick's presentation led students from New York where they encountered cannibalism and coincidence, through Transylvania and the Wedding of the Dead, to the Arctic Circle, where the cold appears as a character in his novel Revolver.

Mr Logan, QE school librarian said of the visit “At QE Marcus’ books have featured heavily in previous reading promotions and will continue to do so.

"His latest ‘Ghosts Of Heaven’ is a tour de force - accessible and unusual, four linking stories that can be read in any order - so having him actually visit and talk about his work was just fantastic. Thank You Mr Sedgwick”.

Marcus' bestselling books include My Swordhand is Singing, She is not Invisible and A Love Like Blood.

He has won the Printz Award, the Booktrust Teenage Prize, and the Blue Peter Book Award, and his books have been shortlisted for over forty other awards, including the Carnegie Medal, the Edgar Allan Poe Award and the Guardian Children’s Fiction Prize.
