Post Office reopens after raid

Nearly three months after its walls were smashed in during a ram-raid, Buckfastleigh's post office is reopening this morning.

The incident, on July 3, saw a landrover drove into the wall before attaching a wire rope to the cash machine, and pulling it away from the building.

The raiders, who have not been caught, fled empty handed after failing to load the cash machine onto the vehicle.

Now, after £40,000 of repairs have been completed, the business is once again open and trading.

Subpostmaster Beverly Garland said the closure of the post office had affected trade levels in the town and that she weas looking forward to reopening.
