Police are continuing to appeal for the public’s assistance following the murder of a young woman in Vaagso Close, Devonport, Plymouth.

The young woman is believed to be 24 year old Sally Ann Harrison who lived at the address.

Formal identification has still to be completed.

A police spokesman said: "Sally suffered terrible head injuries from the attack she suffered. Her daughter is believed to have been in the home at the time of the attack but she is now safe and being cared for by family.

Detective Inspector Nassaris of the major crime investigation team said: “We are making good progress with the investigation but we still need the help of the public to bring the offender to justice as quickly as possible.

"In particular we are looking for; any blunt instrument that may have been discarded in the area and the victim’s mobile phone which is an HTC Wildfire. We are also keen to speak to anyone who saw Sally on Wednesday 4th April.”

There was no sign of a break-in at the address and police have stressed that this type of crime is very rare in this area. The neighbourhood police are involved in the investigation and are providing a visible presence to reassure the community.
