PEOPLE across Mid Devon are being encouraged to pull on their walking boots or get on their bikes in aid of ChildLine's 25th anniversary.
The ChildLine cycle ride and family walk will take place on Sunday, March 4, with both routes starting at Sampford Arundel village hall (near Wellington, Somerset) at 10.30am.
The 25 mile cycle ride, which is open to participants aged 18 and above, will follow quiet country lanes, cycle paths and tow paths through the Somerset and Devon countryside, passing through Uffculme, Culmstock and Hemyock.
With a few hills along the way, the route is described as “moderately challenging”, but the 2.5mile walk is suitable for the whole family.
Dogs are allowed as long as they're kept on leads.
Donna Statham, NSPCC community fundraising manager, said: “The ChildLine cycle ride and family walk will be a fabulous day out with something for everyone, whatever their fitness or ability.
“For 25 years, ChildLine has been a trusted friend that any child or young person in the South West and across the UK can turn to when they need someone to talk to. By joining in with these events, or by sponsoring those taking part, you can help us be there for children and young people - both now and in the future.”
Entry is just £5 for adults and £2.50 for children and includes a bowl of soup on return. Anyone who raises more than £25 in sponsorship will receive a free t-shirt and there will be a prize for the top adult and child fundraisers.
To register for the event or for more information, contact Donna on 01823-674495 or email dstatham@nspcc.org.uk
