Wellington School chaplain the Rev Jeremy Hellier has received a certificate for meritorious service from the Lord Lieutenant of Somerset, Lady Gass.

He was among eight recipients of the award at a ceremony at the Bishop’s Palace, Wells, on Sunday.

The accolade recognise and honour true commitment and dedication to the county’s Reserve and Cadet Force.

Commander Hellier, who is Commanding Officer of Wellington School Combined Cadet Force, has seen the contingent flourish under his command, an RAF section and seeing it ranked fifth nationally for the BTECH in public services.

Two local cadets were also appointed as the Lord Lieutenant’s Cadets for the coming year and will accompany her on official engagements.

Amelia Evans, 18, is a member of the Army section of the King’s College, Taunton, CCF and has proved herself an effective instructor and has recently been promoted to serjeant.

Cadet Serjeant Major – and designated Cadet RSM - James Lancey, 17, served in the J Company Somerset Army Cadet Force and plays an active role in the leading his company.
