THE latest donations to the Somerset Unit for Radiotherapy Equipment appeal almost topped £3,000.
The amount raised for the SURE campaign to equip the Beacon Centre cancer unit at Taunton’s Musgrove Park Hospital since it was supported by the County Gazette has now reached £254,694.
Donations included £1,000 from Mr and Mrs Harper; £300 from Dave and Lin Keitch; £324 from Karen Docking in celebration of her 40th birthday; £194 from Wellington Baptists Church; £160 from Mr and Mrs Trowbridge in celebration of their ruby wedding; and £65 from Mr and Mrs Ayres in celebration of their golden wedding.
A ploughing match at Kingston St Mary raised £87.65; there was £77.11 from UNISON; £50 from Mrs House; and £100 from Wellington Women’s Fellowship.
The latest 5p collections included £10 from the Trefoil Guild; £10 from Cynthia Capell; and £282.05 from the Beacon Centre.
Further donations from the Beacon Centre totalled £190.40, with £14 from Daniel and Joseph; and £12 from the Collins family; there was also £68 in £2 coins from an unknown source.
Collection boxes yielded £23.59 at the Esso petrol station, in Wellington Road, Taunton; and £14.17 from the One Stop Shop, Galmington.
