THE first new kerbside collections in the Sort It Plus service for recycling will begin on October 17.
The last of the new refuse bins, recycling boxes and food waste containers are currently being distributed together with information leaflets setting out the first collection dates and detailing changes to the day of the week for recycling and refuse pick-ups.
Cllr Chris Morgan, West Somerset Council's Lead Member for the Environment, said: "By increasing the amount we recycle and reducing waste that goes to landfill, our communities can help conserve our environment for future generations."
Sort It Plus aims to save money and help the environment by doubling recycling rates and cutting levels of rubbish sent to landfill.
Residents have been urged not to put household plastic bottles or food waste out for collection until the specified day, or use wheeled bins before the correct vehicles are in service.
