SIX twinkle-toed Withleigh Young Farmer Club Members danced their way to third place in the finals of a national competition in Blackpool on Saturday.

Representing the South-West in the Jazz Dancing contest, the group was up against eight other teams from England and Wales.

Anne-Marie Harris, Claire Bellew, Annabel Chanin, Richard Tucker, Daniel Webber and Chris Pring had been practicing since January and were delighted to have beaten off stiff competition to make it to the finals.

Boosted by the support of 20 Withleigh members and parents who had made the journey up to the seaside town, they whole group was met with an incredible atmosphere and standard of competition.

Then, after months of preparation, the young dancers donned their costumes and took to the floor.

Their well-rehearse performance was judged by Matt Baker, the new National YFC president, The One Show host and Strictly Come Dancing contestant.

He described their performance as “lively, energetic, full of fun and the members were a credit to their club” and placed them in third position.

The six members said they were very proud of their achievements in the competition and had built up strong friendships as a result.

They will be performing their routine to the music of Hit The Road Jack on the Saturday at Devon County Show in the YFC marquee.
