Tiverton group supports breastfeeding

TIVERTON-based Baby Bistro has given its support to National Breastfeeding Week 2010.

More than 150 adults, children and babies attended a Big Baby Blockbuster film open at Tivoli cinema.

The peer support group gave out free breastfeeding goody bags to the first 50 families and were on hand to give information to breastfeeding mothers.

The Department of Health says scientific research shows breastfeeding protects babies against infections and strengthens their ability to fight disease.

Baby Bistro also took part in Race for Life 2010 in Exeter where they raised more than £600 for cancer research.

Cancer Research UK says a study has shown breastfeeding lowers breast cancer risk.
