Woolworths spin-off for Tiverton

NEW jobs are set to be created at a Woolworths spin-off store opening in Tiverton next month.

The national chain store Alworths will sell pick 'n' mix sweets, homeware, garden products, toys and stationery.

The store was began by ex-Woolies employee Andy Latham and 15 of the store's head office staff, after it went into administration at the beginning of last year.

Mr Latham was head of store and concession development at Woolworths and worked for the store for more than 25 years.

The new retail chain now has 10 stores across the country and the Tiverton store will open on the old site of Woolworths in Fore Street.

A spokesman for the store said: “The store is due to open on August 25 and about a dozen jobs are likely to be offered at the new store.”

Alworths hopes to have 21 stores by the end of the year.

The tenth store in Scotland was the first of the new chain's stores not to be opened on an old Woolworths site.
