A new guide book to Truro will be of use not only to the visitor but those who live in or near the city.

Published by Focus Publishing of Tavistock, the book contains considerable material provided by Penny Fincken, a Blue Badge Guide used to taking people around the city.

Apart from giving the reader a brief history of the city from 1050 and including a useful list of names, addresses and telephone numbers of local organisations currently in existence, there are plenty of other interesting chapters which give an insight into the past and present - a City for all Seasons as one section states.

Like many town or city guides there is much information about the local authorities involved in running Truro and numerous local statistics. But the chapters on walks round the city, the cathedral and education plus one on the origins of the town prior to it becoming a city are informative and interesting.

At £6.95 the guide is good value and one that can be kept on a bookshelf to be picked up and enjoyed at any time and at the same time being in constant use for reference purposes.
