HOLMAN Climax Male Voice Choir met for their 62nd annual general meeting which was held at Camborne School and was followed by a social get together with wives and friends, including the presentations.

The secretary, in his report, made comment to the past year of concerts, highlighting the visit to Bournemouth where they joined the Camborne Band to perform to an audience of some 2,000 people.

Also the fundraising for Macmillan Nurses held at Fentangollen Farm singing to an audience in the open air and on the other side of the lake.

The musical director followed with his report of the year, and how the standard was the best, which meant more continued dedication for rehearsals and concerts. He also commended the soloist, the quartets and a personal congratulation to Mrs Agnes Jane for her 30 years as accompanist.

Choir chairman, Mr Rodney Grigg, presented a trophy to Mr Danny Johns for 100 per cent attendance, and also mentioned that the choir now totalled 80 members and stressed that to maintain their high standard of singing more commitment was to be made by each member.

At the Lowenac Hotel, presentations were made to Mr B Carter, life member and Mr C Witney,;Mr G Roberts and Mr D Kinver received certificates for 20 years service.

A surprise followed when Mr P Williams presented Ivor Glasson with a silver salver for his 30 years service to the quartet, he had also been chairman, secretary, and his dedication over this period. Also a silver salver was presented to Agnes Jane for her dedication as accompanist for 30 years.

Finally, the draw was made. Mr Trevor Greenslade said that 1,000 books had been sold and thanked those who had helped to achieve the total, not forgetting those who had given such a wonderful number of prizes.

First prize, a picture painted by B Hancock, second prize, a nest of coffee tables by Roy Edwards, and a further 20 prizes were picked and this ended yet another memorable annual meeting of the Holman Climax Choir.
